Eclipse Ci5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Keyboard on this laptop has suddenly gone haywire! Some keys no longer function at all while others type 2 characters (pressing the "w" key onscreen comes out as "w2." The unit has the latest BIOS for this model, Windows 10 has been fully updated, English language is selected. Laptop was working just dandy when a relative was using it a few days ago. Are there other solutions to this vexing problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @JJ_in_MT

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the Keyboard issue.

Let's try these steps -

1) In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.

2) Double-click Keyboards.

3) Right click on the keyboard drivers and click on uninstall.

4) Restart the computer.

If the issue still persists, try testing the hardware using these steps -

1) Shutdown the computer.

2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.

3) Press F2 once.

4) Go to Component test.

5) From the list, run the keyboard test.
