I have an HP DV6-7029WM I bought refurbished last summer. Just noticed today some brown staining around the edges of the screen. They are steadily spreading. Is this an LCD failing or an inverter or backlight issue?

Look towards the middle of the top of the browser, see the bright dots by the Youtube icon?  It's brown stains in those patterns around the top right and top left through bottom left of my screen, then a tiny bit in the bottom right.

Someone else had the same problem,as in,it looks just like mine.

Hi tige321,

It means the liquid in the LCD has leaked and is bleeding into the screen.

I just wanted to know what's happening to my screen,if this is some known way LCD panels fail or what. I don't want to go buy a replacement if that's not it,but I guess logically it'd probably have to be it.

It doesn't really fit the description, but it does really look like the picture for 'Discolored, lightened, or darker area in screen: Liquid has entered inside the display panel.'

When it says liquid has entered the panel does that mean outside liquid like you spilled a drink on it or the inside LCD liquid has spilled out?? I didn't spill anything on it but it looks much like the picture.
