Hello,
I have just bought the HP 24f display as an external monitor for my laptop (LENOVO-Z40-70).
The problem is, I get the "input signal not found" when it is connected.
With the monitor on, if I plug the HDMI into either the monitor or the laptop the monitor recognizes that some connection was established, by flashing the error message on the screen. This occurs even if the monitor has gone to standby.
I know it is not a problem with the connection, nor the hardware, since I dual boot on this laptop and using Ubuntu I have no issues when using the monitor ( same laptop, same monitor, same cable).
I have update all drivers associated with video and monitor.
For the monitor drivers I have tried updating the generic windows PnP driver and I've downloaded and installed the HP 24f drivers. No luck with either ( doing the all the steps of having everything disconnected, installing the driver, restarting the computer, checking that the driver is installed, then repluging everything.)
Are there any other steps I can take?
I appreciate any responses.
I run Windows 10 Education edition if that is relevant.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
I have gone through your Post and I'll try my best to help
I suggest you reinstall the Graphics driver from Device Manager
- Select the Start button, type Device Manager, and select it from the list of results.
- Look for Display Adapters and expand the List
- Look for Graphics driver then right-click it, and select Update Driver.
- Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
- If these steps don't work, try reinstalling the driver: Open Device Manager, right-click the Graphics driver and select Uninstall. Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

Thanks for the response.
As I've mentioned in the original post I have update all the drivers both the graphics adapter, which is the generic intel one, and I've tried the Basic Windows provided one. This included a full deinstallation and reinstallation of the driver, both through the manager, and the intel tool for installing its drivers.
I've also tried all permutations of the Graphics adapter and Monitor drivers with no luck.
And I've tried rolling back the drivers, at least the ones which I could actually do it for.
I did follow some of the steps listed in the article, but since this is an external secondary monitor there is only so much I can do that is prescribed there.
Is there a way to change the resolution of the monitor? I've noticed that the monitor is optimized for 1920x1080, but that is not an option in the computer.

@kalousd
Let's try to access and make adjustments in the OSD menu using the buttons on the bottom side of the monitor's front bezel:
do the following:
- If the monitor is not already on, press the power button to turn on the monitor.
- To access the OSD menu, press the Menu button to open the OSD.
- Use the three function buttons to navigate, select, and adjust the menu choices.
- The on-screen button labels vary depending on which menu or submenu is active.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

There was no way to manually define the resolution from the menu. It makes sense since there is no image information to change. Likewise the image input option is grayed out when there is no displayed image.
I tried once again to reinstall/rollback/update the drivers carefully turning the computer off and on between each change and no luck. Starting the computer in low res mode also did not yield any results.

As you've tried downloading and installing the HP generic drivers which couldn't fix the issue, hence, this could be driver or bug,
Talking to our support will guide to the solution. Please reach out again for any further assistance.
Have a nice day ahead.

Had same issue as OP with a Dell laptop. Just now got the monitor to work with HDMI!!!
The solution was to detect the monitor from within the "Intel HD Graphics Control Panel" (or whatever graphics card software you have), for me I accessed by right clicking on the desktop and selecting "Intel Graphics Settings", then clicking "Multiple Displays", and the "Detect" button. Once that was done my Function F8 (monitor button) starting working the way it was supposed to!
