Hi @Cliffhanger3,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop isn't detecting your Dell monitor even after switching the HDMI cable, here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting:
- Check the Input Source on the Dell Monitor:
- Make sure the monitor is set to the correct input (HDMI).
- Use the monitor’s physical buttons to navigate to the input/source menu.
- Detect Display Manually in Windows 11:
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Scroll down and click Detect under the “Multiple displays” section.
- Check Display Mode:
- Press Windows + P and cycle through the display modes:
- PC screen only
- Duplicate
- Extend
- Second screen only
- Press Windows + P and cycle through the display modes:
- Update Graphics Drivers:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click your graphics card and select Update driver > Search automatically.
- Try a Different HDMI Port or Adapter:
- If your laptop has multiple HDMI or USB-C ports, try another one.
- If you're using a USB-C to HDMI adapter, test it with another device.
- Test the Monitor with Another Device:
- Connect the Dell monitor to another laptop or desktop to confirm it works.
- Connect the Dell monitor to another laptop or desktop to confirm it works.
- Restart Both Devices:
- Power off both the laptop and monitor.
- Turn them back on and reconnect the HDMI cable.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
