Hi @Cliffhanger3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop isn't detecting your Dell monitor even after switching the HDMI cable, here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting:

  1. Check the Input Source on the Dell Monitor:
    • Make sure the monitor is set to the correct input (HDMI).
    • Use the monitor’s physical buttons to navigate to the input/source menu.

  2. Detect Display Manually in Windows 11:
    • Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
    • Scroll down and click Detect under the “Multiple displays” section.

  3. Check Display Mode:
    • Press Windows + P and cycle through the display modes:
      • PC screen only
      • Duplicate
      • Extend
      • Second screen only

  4. Update Graphics Drivers:
    • Open Device Manager.
    • Expand Display adapters.
    • Right-click your graphics card and select Update driver > Search automatically.

  5. Try a Different HDMI Port or Adapter:
    • If your laptop has multiple HDMI or USB-C ports, try another one.
    • If you're using a USB-C to HDMI adapter, test it with another device.

  6. Test the Monitor with Another Device:
    • Connect the Dell monitor to another laptop or desktop to confirm it works.

  7. Restart Both Devices:
    • Power off both the laptop and monitor.
    • Turn them back on and reconnect the HDMI cable.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
