Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!
HP Recommended
Pavilion 360x

I didn’t update or install any new software recently, but the last few times I have turned on or opened my laptop, the cursor/mouse will not appear on my laptop screen. The touchscreen still works so I am able to maneuver that way, but no idea why or how this happened.

@ghoegh,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the cursor is disappearing in Windows.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

  • What is the exact model for your computer?
  • What is the operating system you are using?

Meanwhile, I suggest you press the Windows key on your keyboard and the cursor should come back on. If this doesn’t fix the issue, then following the below key combinations.

Fn + F3

Fn + F5

Fn + F9

Fn + F11

If you continue facing the issue, then, uninstall the touchpad driver from the device manager and then download and install it from the below link.

Here is how it is done.

  1. Type "Device Manager" into the search field to open the device manager console.
  2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
  3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
  4. When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.

NOTE: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Cheers!
