I bought this computer 3 days ago to use with onenote during class and for some reason the handwriting produced on the screen is shaky while I write.
If I draw a strtaignt line slowly, the cursor tends to wobble slightly and produce a squggly, jittery line. When I do so quickly, however, the line smoothes out. Often, when I write quickly, the writing comes out jagged and distorted which is frustrating.
I updated all the drivers and tried all the different settings I could find, without success.
Also, while in regular pc orientation, the screen lock button is greyed out and I can't change it back from the settings because it is also greyed out there.
any help is appreciated, thank you.

Hi! @dongle_holder, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!
I understand when you write on one note the letters are jittery on your laptop.
Don't worry I will try to help you out.
Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?
Have you tried checking with a different application?
Are you using a stylus to write on one note? Please provide the model number of the stylus.
Kudos to you for trying out the steps before reaching out to us.
Try updating the BIOS, touchpad drivers, and intel chipset drivers to the latest version on your PC and let me know the status.
Please find the link to update BIOS.
Link to update touchpad driver.
Also, find the link to update chipset driver.
I'll watch your reply!
Have a beautiful day ahead! 🙂

No, the computer is totally stock out-of-the-box
The pen came with the computer, so I don't know the serial number, and I can't find int anywhere on the pen.
I updated every single driver, and the result is the same.
Windows ink has similar problems but is somewhat better than onenote
Also, I tried using a physical ruler to see if jitters persisted and they did. I was unable to draw a straight line with the physical ruler

Hi! @dongle_holder, Thanks for your quick response and time.
I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.
As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.
Can you provide the model name of the stylus you are using?
In Windows, click the Action Center icon on the taskbar in the lower-right corner of the screen.
Click All settings.
In the Find a Setting box, type Pen, select Pen Settings and then select Pen & Windows Ink in the left column.
In the Pen settings, you can do the following:
Choose which hand you write with
Show visual effects
Show the cursor
Ignore touch input when you're using the pen
Show the handwriting panel when not in tablet mode and no keyboard is attached
Scroll down to see the Windows Ink Workspace settings, where you can do the following:
Show the recommended app suggestions
Set pen shortcuts
Select pen behavior when you click once, double-click, or press and hold (only supported on some pens).
Refer this article to know more information about Using a Pen to Draw or Ink with Windows Ink Workspace.
Hope this helps!
Have a great day ahead! 🙂

Go to File > Options and select Advanced.
In the Pen section, check the box next to 'Automatically switch between inking, selecting, typing, planning to enable it.

@dongle_holder, thanks for your quick response and time.
Thanks for sharing the pictures.
The stylus in the picture does not seem to be an HP supported product.
I have checked the stylus compatibility guide and for your laptop, there is not stylus released yet they HP will release the stylus very soon.
Spectre x360 13-ac0xx (coming soon)
Refer the stylus compatibility guide for more information.
Since HP does not recommend to use a different stylus It certainly seems to be an issue with the stylus, please contact the vendor you purchased the laptop from and get a replacement stylus.
Have a great day ahead! 🙂
