Chromebook 11A-NB0013DX
Chrome OS

Just signed up here. A long time HP user. I purchased a HP Chromebook (Model # 11A-NB0013DX) from BestBuy in late November. Today I ran into power problem. I was using it when I was online. The battery indicator showed it was getting low.(It was not red yet.) All of a sudden the screen turned blank. I assumed battery was completely drained. No problem. I attached the charging cord and left it alone. The LED light next to sucket started blinking.

About an hour later I flipped the screen. The screen was still blank as if it had been completely turned off. Pressing power button quickly or very slowly made no difference. I assumed I should be able to use it when it is plugged to electric outlet.

One more thing: Since I first set it up, the blinking flash light was never solid. Even after charging it all night.

When the battery is completely full shouldn't the light lit up without flashing?

I pressed the power and reset buttons (the key next to right arrow at top) 5 seconds for hard reset. No luck.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. My chromebook is charging now. I will probably wait till tomorrow. Is it necessary to charge it 24 hours?

I am responding to my own thread in case some other folks are having the same problem.

The problem has gone away, hopefully for good. I simply raised the lid on Chromebook when it was charging, and it was on. I can't figure it out why sudden power failure issue took place. I did the battery test. It was OK.

I found this article regarding flashing LED light issue that shows how to do battey test. Very easy.

  1. Press the Ctrl, Alt, and T keys to open Crosh.
  2. Then type battery_test 1 and hit Enter.
  3. Check the results to confirm your battery is actually charging.
  4. Check the health stats as well. If the battery health goes under 80 percent, get a new one.
