So a few weeks ago I got new shiny HP notebook. Worked fine for few days. One day, when I opened it (was folded shut in sleep mode) there was no picture on screen. Nothing. But power led was on, hdd led blinked. I thougy, maybe it's operating system problem. After a few hours notebook turned on like it should. I disabled sleep mode, and enabled hibernation. After few days it stopped showing anything on screen. Again. This time I discovered that notebook turns on normally, (sound notification on plugging usb device). So I turned it off and after a few hours I tried to connect it to external display, and before I even connected external display, internal screen worked just fine. But after about a week it started again. This time I connected it to external monitor and external screen worked. I found out that only one display was detected: external. I used hwinfo to see what displays were detected. But after a few days internal display started working, then stopped.

What even more strange, I turned on notebook just half a hour ago and it turned on just fine, but when screen turned off after a 15 minutes of inactivity (power saving on battery) I couldn't turn it on again, it just stopped displaying anything.

What should I do with this problem? Could it be just bad fit of some connector? Or something else? It is under warranty so should I contact shop where I got it?

@kjur18

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • When was the last time it worked without these issues?
  • Have you updated Graphics and Chipset drivers?

Let’s try these steps to resolve the problem:

I recommend you attempt to access the BIOS screen by tapping on F10 while the computer is restarting,

If the issue persists in the BIOS screen which is outside windows, it would confirm a hardware failure.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
