When I got the computer last month, it would sense when I came back to the computer and the screen would automatically turn on. It no longer does that. I have not changed any settings, displays or power settings. How can I regain that function?

Try these steps:
Update Drivers: Ensure that your device drivers, especially for the display and sensors, are up to date. You can do this by visiting the HP support website and downloading the latest drivers for your specific model.
Check Settings: Look for any relevant settings that might affect this feature. You can do this by:
- Going to the Windows Settings.
- Navigating to System > Power & sleep or System > Display.
- Checking for options related to automatic wake or gesture sensing.
Camera and Sensor Functionality: The feature that powers on the screen when you approach may rely on the camera or other sensors.
- Ensure that your device’s camera and proximity sensors are enabled and functioning correctly.
- Check privacy settings in Windows to make sure that applications can access these sensors.
Restart and Update: Sometimes a simple restart can fix minor glitches. Also, ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date.
Reset Settings: If you have made any recent changes, try resetting your power settings to default by:
- Navigating to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Selecting "Restore default settings for this plan."
I hope this helps.
