Pavilion x360
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi

I bought this for my daughter this Christmas and after registering using the keyboard it suddenly stopped working and I could only use the touch screen keyboard. Then for no reason at all the pc display went in to tablet mode and won't come out of it.

I have tried a total reset and everything I described above happens again. I have downloaded all the drivers etc again and rebooted and the outcome is still the same.

Have wondered if throwing it against a wall would help, but realised that would only help me and not the laptop.

Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you resolve it?

Thanks

Hi @kippa22,

Welcome to the HP Forums!:smileyhappy:

It is a terrific place to find answers and tips!

For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide:

I understand that you purchased the Pavilion x360 as a Christmas present for your daughter.  After setting it up, and registering on the HP website the keyboard stopped responding. You could only use the on screen keyboard.  Suddenly the display went into tablet mode and  you could not change the mode back.  You have tried a total reset and installed any driver updates, but the issue remains.

Have you ran the HP Support Assistant?

Have you ran the Windows troubleshooter?

Would you check this setting.

  • Click the Windows button (lower left corner)
  • Clcik on  settings
  • Click on  system to  open it.
  • In the left pane of the screen, scroll down to the bottom until you see "Tablet Mode"
  • Verify that  it is set to off.

Please let me know the outcome.

Best of Luck and Happy Holidays!

After trying everything else on these forums and elsewhere, I disabled the setting "Beep when keys are pressed or accepted" in the Ease of Access>Keyboard Settings (Win 10).  This immediately fixed the problem.
