HP Elitebook Folio 1040
Microsoft Windows 11

I suddenly cannot use the camera on my laptop. It keeps showing an error code. This has affected me from doing video conference calls.

The G1 model has drivers for windows 7 & 8 only (dated 2013)

The G2 supports windows 10 (and dated 2017)

Both use the "HP  universal camera driver"

The Elitebook Folio 1040 G2 camera driver is here and may work in windows 11

You might also want to read this and look for an on/off camera switch

Instead of a physical switch there may be a function key with icon of a camera to indicated it can be used to turn on / off the camera.

Hi, I tried the solution you gave by installing the HP universal camera driver but it still didn't work. My camera still isn't working.

You mentioned Folio 1040.  Do you have the G1 or G2?

Can you provide the Product ID please?  That would help to identify exactly which one.

I looked at the manuals for the G2 and there is no camera switch for on/off.

When did the problem first occur?  Unless I am mistaken the G1 and G2 are not blessed for Windows 11. What version of windows was it last working in?

What does the Windows device manager show? Any errors?

That HP universal windows driver update shows that the software is Realtek.  There is a list of drivers for HP Universal Camera Driver here and it does not have win11 build 23h2.
