Nothing strange about it. JoeBot just settled for what it is claiming it helped. In my link you can see a picture in daylight, tell me it's ok, LOL. You can't fix a flawed hardware with a driver update. Regardless of light this camera is worse then anything I ever had, even 10 years ago, it's that bad. I bought 2 laptops in January and you can see clearly (my link) how terrible it is compared (in daylight !!!) to Acer. In artificial light it's a plain joke.

So no more BS here please. As I said, it's been covered in every x360 webcam YouTube review, period.

And if JoeBot claims otherwise he better posts some pictures to back it up. I've been around computers for too long to believe it.

It does still have some purple tint to it, but not noticeable unless you are looking for it.
Before my hair was purple in daylight.
I assumed it was something to do with the ir leds interfering with the normal camera or the ir LEDs being on when in non low light conditions.
The article that I linked to in my original post mentioned that this issue was caused because the ir LEDs were always on, and the software mentioned described how to turn them off.
I assumed that the drivers fixed an issue with then bring on permanently

I turned the IR off the second day I had it, via camera recording software adjustment panel. IR off doesn't help this crap product.

It's good you said you still have a tint b/c otherwise your claim would be well... laughable, I explained why.

Even with IR disabled this camera is a joke on us, buyers, we got dupped... and all x360 buyers still are, as the issue persists as before, no change. It was reported good 2 years ago or more. Our complaints land in HP's waste basket if you didn't know that before.

Look at my picture, what can you tell me about color fidelity, sharpness, white balance, dynamic range etc. etc.

I bet your's is no better or identical, what else could it be... you just chose not to see it, that's all, that is your "fix".

See mine again.

JoeBot_13,

I am really shocked you suggested the jig idea. The price tag of this laptop demands proper functionality. Us as customers and users should never have to do that. Based on my experience with this laptop (15-CH011DX),  I have come with two conclusions;

1- It is a lghting issue and I am not going to create a jig

2- If this is the problem I am having on my second day unboxing the laptop, then what else will I face 10 days from now when I can't return it to BestBuy anymore. I sir will return this laptop and go back to Dell if I don't find a proper fix by tomorrow.

Try going to your HP Assistant app and making sure all of your drivers are updated in this app. That fixed my purple tint problem.

Turns out that the IR idea was on the right track. I purchased an IR filter from B&H Photo (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/617653-REG/Marshall_Electronics_V_FIRC_650_650nm_IR_Cut_Filte...) and placing that over the webcam cleared the photo color issues right up.

Current hypothesis is that HP cheaped out on the camera and saved themselves some money by just not including an IR filter. Or maybe there is an IR LED on that I can't see that the filter is clearing up for me - hard to say. But this does resolve the issue for $5 + shipping and some glue.

This is an IR webcam. Nonetheless, it is also the cheapest, least advanced, lowest resolution piece of hardware I've ever seen.

You can disable IR LEDs, block them or use the filter but nothing's going to make it usable or acceptable, especially compared to other even mediocre usb webcams.
