Rechargable MPP2.0 Tilt Pen not recongized by HP Pen Control Plus

I purchased an HP Rechargable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen, but the HP Pen Control Plus app says that it is an incompatible stylus when I try to use the app's charge level function.  The tilt sensitivity function also doesn't appear to work. The product page specifies that it's compatible with my HP Envy x360 2-in-1 Laptop 15-fh0000ca.

How do I access the "fuel gauge indicator" advertised on the box?
