HP ENVY x360 - 15m-dr1012dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP ENVY x360 - 15m-dr1012dx laptop.  On 04/09/2021 I was able to use my laptop monitor and 2 monitors connected via HDMI as "extended" monitors.  This worked very well every day since purchase on 12/11/2019.  This worked both 1) when both HDMI cables/monitors were connected to a USB-C hub 2) one connected via HDMI directly to the Laptop and the second connected through the USB-C hub.  On 4/10/2021, both of these setups stopped working.  The laptop will now only recognize any 2 of the 3 monitors as "extended" monitors - it will "extend" to both HDMI monitors, but not the laptop OR the laptop monitor and one of the other monitors.  It will duplicate to all 3 monitors - so it knows all 3 are connected and available.  Note:  No Windows updates occurred near or on 04/09/2021.  Please help me resolve this issue so that it works like it did on 04/09/2021.

Thank you.  I had already done those before placing the question.

Press Windows + R

Type regedit and hit ENTER.

If a message pops up saying "do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device" click YES

A window called "Registry Editor" should show.

Save a copy of the registry:  File > Export

Locate this three registry keys:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Configuration
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Connectivity
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\ScaleFactors

After finding them right click on each folder and select delete than yes.

Exit

Reboot

Re-connect the devices one at a time as extended monitors.

Now working as expected

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
