Hi @DharamK

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That sounds incredibly frustrating! Since the display flickers or goes black depending on cursor movement and screen colors, it could be a driver issue, a power setting conflict, or even a hardware fault. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps:

1. Update Graphics & Touchpad Drivers

  • Open Device Manager (Win + X → **Device Manager`).
  • Expand Display Adapters → Right-click your Intel Iris Plus GraphicsUpdate driverSearch automatically.
  • Expand Mice and other pointing devices → Right-click your Touchpad driverUpdate driver.

2. Disable Panel Self Refresh (Intel Graphics)

  • Right-click on the desktop → Open Intel Graphics Command Center or Intel Graphics Control Panel.
  • Go to Power Settings → Disable Panel Self Refresh for both Battery and Plugged In modes.

3. Adjust Display Refresh Rate

  • Go to Settings (Win + I) → SystemDisplayAdvanced display settings.
  • Lower the refresh rate (e.g., from 120Hz to 60Hz) and see if the flickering improves.

4. Disable Fast Startup

  • Open Control PanelPower Options.
  • Click Choose what the power buttons doChange settings that are currently unavailable.
  • Uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended) → Save changes.

5. Run HP Diagnostics

HP has built-in diagnostic tools that can check for display issues. You can find more details on HP’s support page.

6. Test External Display

  • If possible, connect your laptop to an external monitor via HDMI or USB-C.
  • If the external display works fine, the issue is likely with your laptop’s screen.

7. Consider a BIOS Update

  • Visit HP’s driver page for your model and check for BIOS updates.
  • If an update is available, install it carefully.
