I bought this laptop and since the beginning i saw that the screen sometimes flickers. I found out that it happens when the screenrate is at 60fps which is weird because the screen should support 60fps. Also when i set the settings in windows and the amd software to always 144 fps and no dynamic frame rates it still switches to 60fps when the screen doesnt change much. As soon as i move the mouse or sth else happens the flickering stops. And after like 5 seconds of nothing happening on the screen it comes back.

I already updated the amd and nvidia drivers and switched the settings to 60fps and varaible and back but it keeps happening.

@ukgvctrdzx, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP laptop that flickers!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. You can do this by visiting the HP Support website or using the AMD software to check for updates.

Check Power Settings: Sometimes power-saving settings can affect screen refresh rates. Check your laptop's power settings to ensure that maximum performance is selected, especially when plugged in.

Adjust Refresh Rate Settings: You mentioned you’re trying to set it to 144 Hz. Make sure you’re selecting the correct refresh rate in Windows Display Settings and AMD graphics settings.

Disable Variable Refresh Rate: If your laptop uses variable refresh rate or AMD FreeSync, try disabling it to see if it resolves the flickering issue.

Check for Background Applications: Some applications running in the background might affect refresh rates. Check for any unnecessary applications consuming resources.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
