I doubt there is a software fix for a screen that stops displaying when the screen is moved to a "certain angle".

Without evidence to support it (except for the fact the screen fails when moved to this location), I would guess the issue is caused by some sort of hardware issue.  For example, like the tiny wires that control the webcam, the display is controlled by connections made through wires that cross the hinge area - if the wires become loose, disconnected, crushed, or otherwise compromised, the display can fail.   There are other possible causes, of course.

Diagnostics can catch particular types of component failures; whether the diagnostics can detect failure that results from the positioning of the screen is not something I can answer.

  • HP will advise you there is a fee for phone support and / or other services when your computer / device is no longer under warranty.  This is normal business practice.

  • HP may tell you that certain services are not covered under warranty.  This is normal business practice.  Standard Warranty typically covers specific hardware issues as explained in the Warranty contract. Care Pack coverage and warranties differ by package.

  • If the HP Contact (phone) number is not immediately provided:  Contact information is displayed on your screen after you submit your case online.
