I have an HP 5558DQ17 laptop, using 1 HP VH240a monitor and trying to connect a new Acer R240HY monitor but my laptop does not detect both monitors and I'm using a USB-C to Dual HDMI Adapter. I also tried a docking station and that didn't work. Of I connect 1 monitor to my laptop at a time, they work individually so all cords and monitors work. I have done all of the monitor detection, extend, you name it. My Dell laptop does detect both monitors. I think it's something not on my HP laptop and it's only 2 years old. Any advice? If I need to buy a different monitor please advise ASAP as I have a return deadline for the Acer monitor soon. Thank you.

Reading other posts, I bought a VGA to HDMI VGA Adapter for dual monitors but this still isn't working. Is it the HP laptop because my Dell works fine? When I go to Detect Monitor - nothing is found for a second monitor. Thank you.
