Spectre x360

There was a discussion about the spots on the OLED screen of a Spectre x360 back in January of 2020. I bought a 13" Spectre with OLED display and it's unusable. There are visible spots beside every pixel on the screen. I already sent it back, HP replaced the screen, but the replacement was the same. The white background looks like gray with black spots on it and it's also visible in the BIOS, so it's not a software related problem.

I'm curious if this is a AMOLED related problem or it's also visible on the IPS displays. I'm thinking about ask for a replacement with IPS panel, but if it's the same than the best would be to stay far away from HP touchscreen models.

Hi Echo_Lake!

Thanks for the response. My long story in the short version: about two weeks ago I bought a Spectre x360 (13-aw2000nh) with an OLED display, but not the 4K version, it's only a fullHD version. When the computer arrived the display was very strange for the first time and I didn't know why I got a headache after looking at it for five minutes. Later I noticed, that I can see small dots in a matrix on the display, the white background was not coherent white, but it was like white with the small dots. On the third day I contacted HP support and sent it back. They replaced the display and I got it back after two days, but the look of the display was the same as before. I sent it back for the second time, but the service center contacted me and said these dots are totally normal, it's "by design", these dots are part of the touchscreen. And they are present on the IPS panel too.

I have an older Spectre x360 with 4K IPS display and it's OK. The dots are there too on this one, but they are so small, they don't bother my eyes and I don't get headache after a few minutes staring at it. I also used other touchscreen devices, like MS Surface Pro, they display were also OK.

But this new, fullHD version is totally unacceptable. I can't imagine how HP could release a product like this. About HP's communication the Specre devices are premium devices. This fullHD device is not even close to anything like premium.

Now I got a "premium" notebook, which I can't use more than five minutes, because my eyes starts to pop out. I can put it into the drawer or use it as a paperweight. I'm really disappointed.
