Hi community.

Since some month (problem was not there initially, perhaps it came with an update), I have stable or flickering small black squares on my laptop screen, sometimes stable, sometimes flickering. When Display problem.PNGmoving the mouse, the dots change position. Normally, it seems they are local to windows, means the dots keep the position inside the moving window. The issue is particularly visible in IE, Edge, but also MS Word etc). When reducing the size of windows, the underlying desktop window does not show the pixel problem. It also seems that the task manager application does not have this effect.

I have run the HP support application and all HP driver updates have been installed. Bios is at latest version. Also there are no windows updates pending. I have run the display diagnostic tool (extended mode) and it gave no issues.

For me, it really seems that the problem is local to the video management of certain applications.

Do you have any clue that could help me solving this issue?

regards - Marty

Hi Praveen,

Thanks for your hint, but creating a new user and logging in with that account did not solve the problem. So the problem persists.

Thank you for the update.

In that case, I would suggets you perform the system reset.

Windows 10 has a reset feature that repairs your computer by reinstalling the operating system. This feature is recommended for recovery because it reinstalls Windows 10 while either preserving your personal data and customizations or removing all your personal data.

You have a choice of two methods to reset your computer.

  • If Windows 10 loads correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset in Windows in this document.

  • If Windows 10 does not start correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset through Windows Recovery Environment in this document.

Have a nice day!!

Hi Praveen,

As proposed, I performed a system reset using the option to preserve the user files. Everything went fine during reset and I could login again without any problem. Unfortunately, the problem is still present.

I understand your concerns.

In that case, I would suggets you conatct our phone support and check for the support option. They will help you.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.

Have a nice day!!
