Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

There's a thick pale band running through the middle of my screen and when I look very closely I can see small red and green dots scattered around it. It is much paler than the rest of my screen. Even when I went into bios I can see this band.

I'm not currently able to hook it up to an external screen to check anything else

Then you have no way of determining if this is a screen problem or a video chip problem -- as connecting to an external monitor would help you determine that.

 

You would need to get this examined at an HP facility to see if they can determine the underlying issue.

 

We are not able, or permitted, to provide any repair estimates or equipment prices.

Thank you so much for responding. My laptop is very new, only a few months old. It is still covered by the warranty. I tried to use that to find a service center near me (south side of UK) and I found nothing. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do now?
