The touchpad does not respond at all.
All the following has been done.
1. Bios updated
2 Firmware updated
3. aver reboot, I updated the keyboard drivers and the Touchpad drivers
4. Windows 11 Update through the Microsoft update on Windows.
5. I replaced the touchpad with a new one but again nothing works. So could this be a simple setting in the bios that is setup correctly that is causing the problem, or is it a motherboard connection problem?

Hi @GlennMc777,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with the touchpad.
If your OMEN 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop's touchpad is not responding despite all the troubleshooting steps you've already taken, the issue might be related to a BIOS setting or a hardware connection problem. Let's go through some possible steps and scenarios:
**1. Check BIOS Settings:
- Touchpad Settings:
- Enter the BIOS/UEFI setup by pressing the appropriate key (usually F10, ESC, or Delete) during startup.
- Once in the BIOS, navigate to the Advanced or System Configuration tab.
- Look for a setting related to the Touchpad or Internal Pointing Device. Ensure that it is enabled.
- Save and exit the BIOS.
**2. Check for Hardware Connections:
Inspect the Connection:
- Since you’ve already replaced the touchpad, it’s crucial to ensure that the ribbon cable connecting the touchpad to the motherboard is securely attached.
- Carefully inspect the cable for any signs of damage or improper seating.
Motherboard Issue:
- If the cable and connection seem fine, the issue might be with the motherboard itself. A malfunctioning touchpad connector on the motherboard could cause the touchpad to be unresponsive.
**3. Disable External Mouse Input:
- Check Windows Settings:
- Sometimes, Windows might disable the touchpad when an external mouse is connected.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and ensure that the setting "Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected" is enabled.
**4. Check Device Manager:
- Verify Touchpad Recognition:
- Open Device Manager and expand the Mice and other pointing devices section.
- Look for any entries related to the touchpad. If it’s listed, right-click on it and select Enable if it’s disabled.
- If it’s not listed or if there’s a yellow exclamation mark, there could be a driver issue or a hardware fault.
**5. Test in Safe Mode:
- Safe Mode Boot:
- Boot your laptop in Safe Mode to see if the touchpad works in this environment.
- If it does work in Safe Mode, the issue could be related to a software conflict or a driver issue.
**6. Consider External Diagnostics:
- External Testing:
- If possible, try connecting an external USB touchpad to see if it works. This can help rule out software issues.
Given that you've replaced the touchpad and updated all relevant software, a hardware issue seems likely. This may require one-on-one interaction with phone support to determine whether the motherboard or another internal component is causing the touchpad to be unresponsive.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

I used the HP hardware Diagnostics and clicked on device check, I then licked the arrow and selected all the boxes like Mouse/Touch Pad and all the others on the drop-down menu. I then followed the instructions and changed a few switches, which turned the trackpad back on and it all works great now.
