Hi everyone,
I recently bought this laptop HP Envy 13-ay1000 X360 with touchscreen and pen. However, the touchscreen doesn't work after I connect and/or disconnect the laptop to external monitor. I will need to restart the laptop after disconnecting from external monitor, then touchscreen will work.
Question 1: Is this behavior normal or something is not working properly with touchscreen?
I used a Surface Pro before this and touchscreen worked even when connected to external monitor. No restart was required.
Question 2: I checked Device Manager and Display Settings and found that the laptop's internal display is using Generic PnP Monitor driver from 2006. Could this be the cause of this issue? Is there a specific driver for the internal display for this model so that touchscreen will work properly?
I used HP Support app to check for drivers but no update was found.
Thank you for your help.
Regards,
Andrew

I see you are experiencing Touchscreen not active after using external monitor issues with the HP ENVY 13-Ay1000 X360 Convertible PC. I apologize for the Inconvenience.
I have a few recommendations
- Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
- Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
- Try doing Reset PC Keep my files from windows and check if it works
