I own a HP EliteBook 850 G5 which has according to the documentation a "Thunderbolt (USB Type-C connector)". The HP System Information also shows the following:

Can I use the Thunderbolt (USB Type-C connector) with a standard general Docking station? So far I used tried two non HP one (One from Lenovo and one from Dell, because I could borrow these from a workmate) however both aren´t working (but the Lenovo Laptop is working on the Dell Dock and the Dell Notebook on the Lenovo Dock).

So for me it looks like the "Thunderbolt (USB Type-C connector)" is not working like I would expect it or I´m missing some BIOS settings or some drivers maybe. Or do I need a special USB-C Dockingstation from HP? I know the device has a own Dockingstation, however I would prefer a USB-C dock which can also be used with a possible newer HP Notebook I will order soon.

I banhien, no I haven´t tried the HP Dock so far as I need to order that one. I was a little bit afraid to order it only to test if its working or not. However when you say its working then I think its safe to do so.

By the way I think i found a workaround to my issue. It looks like the problem lies in the Thunderbolt Security Levels which can be adjusted in the Bios. Initially it was on "User Authorization" and after I changed that to "No Security" its working as expected. Normally when using "User Authorization" I would expect a popup in Windows to trust the device, however that wasn´t coming up. Same is true for the "Secure Connection" option which I could use to trust the dock.

So with "No Security" its working, however that´t a very limited security then. Better would be "User Authorization" or "Secure Connection". Any idea why a expected popup didn´t comes up in windows? Or do I need to configure that somewhere else?

Have you tried HP USB-C G5 (5TW10AA) Dock yet. Your computer and the HP USB-C G5 dock is fully compatible. I don't know Dell and Lenovo docks therefore I can not comment on them.

The reason I said they are compatible because they are on my desk now and I'm using them everyday.
