I would take my ultrabook to a shop like Fry's and ask a shop assistant to help you with finding an adapter that will work.
HP has not published a list of specific adapters that work for your notebook.
Finding a generic adapter that works is pretty much like throwing dice.
You are not alone in having this issue.
The problem is that the USB Type-C (thunderbolt) hardware wiring protocol does not have a standard that all manufacturers have accepted.
