I just bought an HP Spectre X360 and wish to attach it to a TV via HDMI. So I bought a USB C to HDMI adaptor that should work on it : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aluminum-Adapter-microSD-MateBook-Chromebook-Grey/dp/B075FGQ988/ref=sr_1_1?...
The USB and SD ports on it do work but when I connect the TV via the HDMi port the Laptop fails to detect it and I tried different cables and Tvs and updated all the drivers. Whden I go on display properties it is failing to detect a second screen.
Any Help please.

I would take my ultrabook to a shop like Fry's and ask a shop assistant to help you with finding an adapter that will work.
HP has not published a list of specific adapters that work for your notebook.
Finding a generic adapter that works is pretty much like throwing dice.
You are not alone in having this issue.
The problem is that the USB Type-C (thunderbolt) hardware wiring protocol does not have a standard that all manufacturers have accepted.

You have not identified your ultrabook beyond stating it is an HP Spectre x360 product.
There are so many different HP Spectre x360 ultrabooks that even counting them is not simple.
Without a complete product name or product number (prodID on the bottom of the Spectre x360) I can't get any specific information on your x360 notebook.
When you connect an HDTV or display by use of an HDMI cable you should use the Windows key + the P key to select the output type that you want.

I cannot help you if you give generic descriptions of what you have tried. Be very specific.

Well there is not much more to say. I attach the adaptor to the USB c and then to a HDMI cable attached to a TV. Then I select the various output methods like screen duplicate or extend but I get no output on the TV. When u go in display properties it only detects primary display but no second display.

Which port are you using?
There is no HDMI port on the ultrabook that you have identified.
I would try to get my money back on the generic Hub that you are attempting to use. It appears to not be compatible with your ultrabook. The two ports on your notebook are thunderbolt .
2 Thunderbolt™ 3 (Data Transfer up to 40 Gb/s, Power Delivery, DP1.2, HP Sleep and Charge); 1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (HP Sleep and Charge);
I would be using one of the USB Type- C Thunderbolt ports on my HP Spectre x360-13t-ac000 ultrabook to connect to external video (HDTV or LCD display).

That generic USB Type-c hub you are using is not a thunderbolt device.

Ah. I did not se that..
The only downside is that even though their marketing claims compatibility, you have found that it does not work with your Windows notebook. The reviews are mostly from Mac owners.
