Hi,
I am trying to output video from my Pavilion I5-CC764TX to two external monitors (and have the lid of the laptop closed). I have an HDMI cable to connect to one monitor which works perfectly. I have a USB-C to HDMI cable for the second monitor.
However, I just cannot seem to get the laptop to output video to the second monitor using the USB-C to HDMI cable. I have updated all hardware in Device Manager just in case it is a simple driver issue but no luck. Any ideas how I can make it work.
Cheers,
Shane

I have the exact same problem with my HP ENVY x360 (15-bp007ng) under Windows 10.
The dedicated HDMI port works fine, but video on the USB-C port doesn't work in 99.9% of tested cases.
At first I used a USB-C hub which has an HDMI port and then tried to connect my displays through HDMI->HDMI, HDMI->DP, HDMI->DVI-D with no luck, so I returned the hub assuming that it was defective.
Now with a different hub (different brand) at first I had the same problems. Then after an hour of trying qt some point I randomly got a video signal through USB-C => hub HDMI => DVI-D. After that HDMI=>HDMI also worked, until I restarted the notebook. I never got a video signal through USB-C since then.
I tested with an old Samsung SyncMaster 191T (DVI-D), SyncMaster 2443 (DVI-D), Asus PB278 (HDMI 1.4, DP, DVI-D), ASUS ROG PG278Q (DP), Schneider 720p TV (HDMI 1.0), Hisense UHD TV (HDMI 2.0)

Same problem. I have a Envy 13-ad022TX, bought from China. Tried everything and consulted HP support station and online help, but nothing worked. The expert in the station told me my device is new model and they don't know how to do.
Bests,

When I plug in the cable, a windows message pops up stating the DisplayPort may not work properly. At the risk of sounding like an idiot, do you know if this is an issue with the laptop, cable or even monitor?

MoorChen, you are absolutely right. The Adaptor doesn't work as well. I went back to the retailer and they tested the notebook with the adaptor and the cable, and determined the port itself is busted. This is a big deal and HP need to fix it ASAP (just a patch perhaps?). They gave me a docking station for free so I could finally output the display to two monitors.
I hope HP see this thread and get onto it, what a joke.

Good for you! But I can find my retailer nowhere. Even if I did, they will blame it on HP. Just hope for the patch. By the way, what kind of docking station you have? Can you take a picture for me? I need my screen projected to a bigger display so badly.
