I purchased this refurbished monitor from a third party retailer and no USB-C cable is included. I tried several cables but non of them can work perfectly(Either no signals or not charging @60W). Could anyone recommend my a USB-C cable that is sure to work with the monitor? Or can hp sell me an OEM one? I am using that for my macbook pro 2016

Hi @xybradley,
Welcome to the HP Forums! 🙂
I would be happy to help you with your HP ENVY 27-inch Display.
I understand that you are looking for USB-C cable for your monitor.
The part number of the USB-C cable you are looking for is 908508-004.
To check the availability and further assistance related to this please contact the HP phone support www.hp.com/contacthp.
I hope I have answered your query and let me if this helps.
Have a great day! 🙂

Hi, I spent the last month trying to solve the same problem and I finally did today.
I tried several different high-end cables from Amazon and none of them worked (they were all Thunderbolt 3; they all would transmit video, but charge only at 15W, even though their capacity was up to 100W; data transmission speed did not make a difference).
All the while, I was trying to contact the HP support. The problem is that if you call the HP support line (1-888-999-4747) and select the appropriate section for Replacement Parts, they simply tell you that this section has closed and terminate your phonecall.
I also tried using the chat tool, but there I got always referred back to the above mentioned number. Only when I actually entered the serial# of my monitor (here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/products) and initiated a chat after that, did they start taking me seriously and finally helped me (luckily, my monitor is still under warranty). Then, over the chat, I finally ordered the correct OEM cable, which arrived today and it works perfectly:
- Transmits video
- Charges my 2016 MBP 13" at 60W
- It does not show the "Unqualified USB-C Cable" error
During the chat, the support told me the exact type of this OEM cable (I was unable to find this information elsewhere):
Cable - USB Type C, USB 3.1 Gen1 CM-CM 20V/3A 1.8M COAX-JAE
It cost me $22.44, including shipping.
Tl;dr: If you want to replace a misplaced/broken OEM USB-C cable for your HP Envy 27 in monitor, either try to go through the process described above, or just save yourself the trouble & $10 and order a similar one on Amazon.
(Note: It is USB Type 3.1, NOT Thunderbolt 3!!! And its charging capacity is exactly 60W = 20V*3A. It is also capable of transmitting 4K video. It is somewhat surprising that really the crappiest USB-C cable out there works the best.)

I have two of these monitors: One hooked-up via the HP cable with which it came, the other hooked-up with an Apple Thunderbolt cable. Both work, but both also give the error message.
HP created a glitchy product and has next to no support for it. It is cheap and looks sharp, though, so I’m willing to spend a few minutes each morning getting it to work with my MacBook Pro.

Hi!
The OEM one I got from HP I couldn't find online.
The Amazon ones that look like they would work (USB-C 3.1, 60W, video enabled) are titled:
"USB 3.1 Type c to Type c Fast Charging Cable with 4K Video Cable Date transmitting 60W Power Delivery 3.3feet Black " or
"Anker Powerline USB-C to USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 Cable (3ft) with Power Delivery for USB Type-C Devices Including Galaxy S8, S8+, S9, iPad Pro 2018, Google Pixel, Nexus 6P, Huawei Matebook, MacBook and More"
(I can't post the links because it would get tagged as spam.)

Had the EXACT same issue, funny
So according to HP if you have a 27inch envy, I found the part number by going here
http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?searchText=w5a12aa
908508-004 is the part number that you need to get
While technically you can get this anywhere, I bought it from an online place located in Hollywood Fl, I forgot the name something like Impact or something

Hi all.
I got the same issue that you had.
I contact HP but they can't help and the don't sell the original cable anymore.
So i tried to find the cables that you was talking about.
I tried this 3 refereces in this way :
Apple Thunderbolt 3 cable
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B0725DW6D3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B072JYDQ7N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B01EMIIFCU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
But with the 3 cases, i had the same issues : the vidéo signal pass well but my macbook 12" was charge only at 15w instead of 60w.
Can somebody help me to find the cable who will finally work ?
I wanted to try this one but i don't know :
Or maybe there is a firmare update that i can apply to the screen. If it exist, can you help me to find it (if possible for mac).
Thanks for your help guys.
