HP USB-C Mini Dock
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi people,

I got HP USB-C mini Dock. It has one hdmi output and one Vga output. I connected two external monitor for each and extended display but only hdmi one works, Vga one is black. When I unplugged hdmi cable, Vga one works. But they never display both of them at the same time. System detects laptop display and hdmi or Vga connected monitor.
- I updated graphic card’s driver (AMD ryzen pro 5 5675u) did not work

- uninstalled driver did not work

- rolled back update did not work

- installed Dock’s drivers did not work

Each display works fine seperately but not at the same time

might not the mini Dock support Vga and hdmi together?
I spent hours on it, please advice what i am missing.

@Korgeneral

It has 2 ports but you can only use one at a time, you can't use BOTH at the same time

The specs is not clear but it says "Supports up to 4K or VGA support up to 1080p", that implies OR  but not BOTH.

Regards.

Dear Banhien,

Thank you for your comments.

Available to use only one connector is what I was afraid of.

Do you think I can use second monitor via USB-C one end and USB-A other end cable?

HP Recommended

Dear Banhien,

I have tried something else.

I kept one display connected to VGA port on mini dock station and then I plugged the other display's HDMI cable to the laptop directly. This time both 2 external monitors worked at the same time. In this case, this proves that mini dock supports only vga OR hdmi as you said. Not possible to use 2 external displays with mini dock at the same time.

Thanks in advance.

Dear Ahmedsandhu,

thank you for your comments

I did these steps you mentioned

I will just try the resolution and let you know the result

By the way i tried to plug hdmi to laptop and vga to mini Dock, and two displays worked simultaneously. Does it mean that mini Dock doesn’t support using both?

Dear Ahmedsandhu,

I checked the resolution also, decreased it to the level supported but did not work either.

As one display connected to vga on dock and another display connected to hdmi on laptop, both works fine, so that I'm sure that graphic card is ok but the dock does not support both.

thanks
