Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand you are unable to connect to smart tv via miracast,
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Did you check whether your computer support miracast?
And if the wireless display you want to project to support miracast?
While you respond to that, here's a few things you need to check:
Step one: Get your devices ready
Use the following information to determine if your computer and the wireless display support Miracast technology.
Check whether your computer supports Miracast
Check whether the wireless display you want to project to supports Miracast
Step two: Projecting your screen
When you have determined that both your computer and wireless display support Miracast, use the following steps to project your screen.
-
First, make sure your computer is connected to a Wi-Fi network, and the display you want to connect to is turned on.
-
Click the Action Center
icon on the taskbar in the lower-right corner of the screen.
-
In the Action Center, click Connect.
Figure : Clicking Connect in the Action Center

It would help if the original question was read properly and a generic reply was not generated .
Surely you will be after selecting connectable to verify my laptop is capable of miracast / widi by the supplied model and case number
As previously stated the laptop connected to the tv via mircast with no issues prior to a windows udate .
I understand how to connect to a wirelss display both by conand nect and project
The laptop if 6 months old , i have already followed your links to solve the problem.
As previously stated i have updated the video drivers etc as per your link .
The Laptop sees the tv and the tv is available to connect to after selecting connect.
The tv acknowledges that a connections is connecting and displays a message intel widi connecting.
Tehe connection never completes .
Laptop displays a something went wrong message.
Tv displays a connection was unsucessful message .

Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
I understand your concern and To clarify the response wasn't generic,
it's just that I didn't see any specific error messages on your first response and without that I could only provide those details.
That said, please do reply with the error message so that we can identify and resolve this issue faster,
Also, considering the issue occurred after the recent windows 10 update, it seems to be an issue with the driver and I recommend you update them using the below steps:
I suggest you to update the Miracast Wireless Display adapter from the Device manager manually by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.
- Press Windows logo + X keys on the keyboard and select Device manager from the context menu.
- Expand Display adapter option, right click on Miracast Adaptor Wireless Display adapter and select
Update this software from the context menu. - Follow the on-screen instructions and wait for the update to complete.
- After the update is complete, close the window and check if the changes are effective by connecting to Miracast device.
Do get back to me as I have a few more tricks up my sleeve,
That said, If I have helped you resolve the issue,
feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon
followed by clicking on 'Accepted as Solution'
And Have a great day Ahead!

Thank you for replying with this detailed response 😉
I appreciate your time and efforts,
I recommend Installing the latest wireless and graphics drivers for your computer, and the latest firmware for your wireless display or Miracast adapter can solve many problems.
-
Wireless display or adapter firmware.
Go to the manufacturer's website to check for firmware updates for the wireless display or adapter. Search for your specific device, and then follow the instructions to download and install the firmware.
-
Wireless and graphics drivers for your computer.
Use the following steps to update your drivers:
-
Install the recommended updates from Windows Update.
-
Update the wireless driver in Device Manager. For more information, see the HP support document: HP Guided Solution - Wi-Fi Not Working on HP Computer.
-
Update the graphics driver in Device Manager. For more information, see the HP support document: Updating Drivers and Software with Windows Update (Windows 10, 😎.
-
Unable to connect to the wireless display
Try the following suggestions.
-
Verify that your computer is connected to WiFi.
-
Restart your computer. Then restart the wireless display and adapter. If using an adapter, remove the adapter from the TV or monitor, restart your device, reinsert the wireless display adapter in the TV or monitor, and attempt to display again.
-
If you are using a wireless display adapter, set the video source to the correct HDMI port (the one that the wireless adapter is connected to). To do this, check the video source settings on your HDTV, monitor, or projects. For instructions, check the information that came with your device or go to the manufacturer's website.
-
If the adapter didn’t connect, open the Action Center, click All Settings, click Devices, and then click Connected Devices. Click Add a device, and then select the wireless display or wireless display adapter.
