HP ProBook 470 G5 Notebook PC

Hello guys,

After many years of owning this laptop I wanted now to use the usb-c port to connect to a monitor. I read on the laptop manual that this usb-c port is a usb-c display port that, if I understand correctly, should allow the monitor to connect. But that is not happening. I know the monitor works well because I can connect it through usb c to a different laptop of mine. So the problem is the usb c port of the 470 G5 laptop. Anyone has any idea about this? Thank you!

Hello Banhien. Thanks for your response. I found the problem a while ago. While I was testing the usb-c port, the VGA and HDMI ports were also connected to two monitors. On the monitor where the VGA was connected, I was also trying to connect through the usb-c port with a usb-c to hdmi adapter. And I was thinking that if I change the source in the monitor (hdmi or vga) that this should work. Eventually, I realized that I should disconnect the vga cable from the laptop and try again. And that worked. So, my impression is that the graphic card was choosing to feed the VGA rather than the usb-c or something of the sort, I dont know how this works exactly. Anyway, it is working fine now and I understood what not to do in the future haha. Thanks for your response!

How do you connect them ? USB-C to USB-C or USB-C to DP cable ?

Regards.
