Volume and Network icons missing from system tray

Hello Everyone,

I have an HP dv6 pavilion notebook and the network and volume  options are greyed out, when I go to the option to add them to the system tray at the bottom right of my screen.

Is there a reason it is greyed out, and how can I bring it back?
