Hi @Xaviet,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with adjusting the brightness on your HP laptop using the dedicated keyboard keys and encountering a message like "HP Hot Key Support," there are a few potential solutions you can try.

  1. Update Graphics Drivers: Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. You can do this by visiting the official HP support website, entering your laptop's model number, and downloading the latest graphics drivers for your system.

  2. Reinstall Hotkey Drivers: Try reinstalling the HP Hotkey Support drivers. You can find these drivers on the HP support website as well. Download the appropriate drivers for your laptop model and reinstall them.

  3. Check Power Settings: Sometimes, power settings can affect the functionality of the keyboard shortcuts. Ensure that your laptop is not in a power-saving mode that might limit the brightness adjustments.

  4. BIOS/UEFI Update: Check if there is a BIOS or UEFI update available for your laptop. Sometimes, these updates can address compatibility issues and improve overall system stability.

  5. Windows Update: Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date. Windows updates can include fixes for various issues, and having the latest updates installed might resolve the problem.

  6. Use Windows Settings: As an alternative, you can adjust the screen brightness directly through the Windows settings. Right-click on the desktop, select "Display settings," and use the brightness slider to adjust the brightness manually.

  7. Check for Third-Party Software Conflicts: Some third-party applications may interfere with the operation of hotkeys. Try disabling or uninstalling any third-party software related to keyboard or display settings temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4,

This is not a single laptop issue. It's happened to my daughter's laptop and several other HP laptops at my daughter's school. Are HP seriously looking into this or is it a "fix it yourself" type problem?

Hi,
The reason for the problem that occurs with many HP notebooks is the Microsoft update "HP L. P. Keyboard 11.1.8.1".
