Hi @MC9053
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for explaining that—this flickering and black screen behavior on your HP Spectre x360 13-aw0xxx after interacting with the touchpad and touchscreen is definitely unusual, and you're right to suspect a driver or compatibility issue with Windows 11.
Here's a focused set of steps to help stabilize the display:
Check for Windows Updates:
- Ensure that your system is up to date with the latest Windows updates. Windows 11 updates often include hardware driver updates and bug fixes that might resolve display issues.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- Even if specific Windows 11 drivers aren't listed on the HP support site, check the manufacturer’s website for updated graphics drivers.
- You can also update drivers via Device Manager:
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters, right-click on your graphics device, and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Adjust Display Settings:
- Navigate to Settings > System > Display. Check configurations related to brightness and scaling that might be contributing to visual distortions.
- Ensure that multiple displays are configured properly if you’re using external monitors.
Disable Hardware Acceleration:
- In some systems, disabling hardware acceleration may resolve flickering issues. This can often be done within specific apps that may be causing the issue, usually under settings or preferences.
Perform a Clean Boot:
- Conduct a clean boot to eliminate software conflicts:
- Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- Under the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all.
- Under the Startup tab, click Open Task Manager and disable all startup items.
- Restart your computer.
Reset or Roll Back Display Driver:
- If updating doesn’t help, consider rolling back the display driver:
- Open Device Manager, right-click the display adapter and choose Properties.
- On the Driver tab, select Roll Back Driver if available.
Check HP Support for Generic Drivers:
- While specific Windows 11 drivers may not be listed, sometimes earlier versions are compatible. Check HP’s support site for Windows 10 drivers that might work until an update is released.
Let me know what you observe after trying these steps. If the issue persists, I can help dig into BIOS settings or explore compatibility tweaks.
You're clearly being thorough—let’s get that screen behaving properly.
If my response helped, please mark it as an Accepted Solution! ✅ It helps others and spreads support. 💙 Also, tapping "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" makes a big difference! Thanks! 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!

The last step, taking a Driver from Windows 10 was helpful. I had a version from 2020, but now it is a version from 2021.
As I have done the up-date to windows 11 just about a year ago, I am supersized this was not taking care automatically. Also, there is not option to chose windows 11 for this lap-top even there was the suggestion to upgrade to windows 11.
Anyways, thank you for your help.

You're very welcome—I'm glad that driver update made a difference.
It’s definitely surprising when a system upgrade doesn’t automatically pull in the most compatible drivers, especially when the upgrade itself was recommended. That kind of mismatch can lead to frustrating issues like the flickering you experienced.
If you ever run into similar quirks again, this Windows 11 flickering guide from Microsoft outlines how to identify whether the issue stems from a driver or an app, and what to do next. It’s a solid reference to keep bookmarked.
Feel free to reach out anytime you need help sorting through updates or compatibility concerns. I’m always here to help you stay ahead of the curve.
Stay fantastic, and have an amazing day ahead!
