HP 15-DY0013DX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I purchased the HP 15-DY0013DX laptop yesterday at Best Buy and it's advertised as having a fingerprint reader. It came with Windows 10 S installed but I switched it over to just Windows 10. Didn't care for the restrictions associated with S. My problem is in settings under sign-in options Windows Hello Fingerprint says 'this option is currently unavailable, we couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello Fingerprint'. The Windows Hello Face is saying the same thing and I know for a fact that I have a webcam. I checked the device manager and there is no entry for biometrics. Can anyone help with this?

I already followed the instructions you provided but as I stated initially under sign-in options Windows Hello Fingerprint says 'this option is currently unavailable, we couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello Fingerprint.' I have also gone into the device manager and there is no entry there for biometric devices.  The description on the Best Buy website says the laptop has a fingerprint reader. I am wondering if that is an error in the listing or if it's that the components are missing from the laptop.Best Buys descriptionBest Buys descriptionManufacturer specsManufacturer specs

@doe1955 I don't see a fingerprint reader on the product specifications as per the HP documentation either, you may click here to verify

That said, if you were assured a fingerprint reader by best-buy and haven't received it as such, I suggest you contact them to inquire about the same.

Let me know how that goes.
