I was trying to find tutorials on setting up/using the rechargeable tilt pen I purchased with my laptop, but none of the pens online or in tutorials look like the one I have. I'm wondering if I somehow got the wrong pen or if it's something special that only came with this laptop?

The pen model # is HSA-W001P.

Thanks!

@Bright131 you can check the stylus compatibility through the virtual agent: Click here

- they keyword is "stylus compatibility". and then follow the process.

if it does not mention anything about it, that may mean that the device only supports passive stylus and here's all you need to know about it:

  • A passive stylus (also known as capacitive stylus) functions the same as your finger on the screen.
  • Passive styluses do not require batteries, and they work on any touch screen device.

Good news for you, your device supports an active stylus:

Active Stylus Pen:

Part number: 910942-001

you may order the replacement parts on the HP Parts Store, If you've already looked for it and couldn't find it on the HP Parts Store, you may want to get it locally at the online store such as Amazon or eBay, etc...as the part numbers are universal.

Hi, thank you for replying!

My pen seems to sync fine, and I haven't had a lot of trouble with it not responding. I was mostly confused when I was trying to figure out what functions this particular pen has. The tilt pen listed on the HP store has features like the button on top of the pen, flip to erase, and presentation mode. This one doesn't have the clicker button (like a mechanical pen), and I'm not sure if it's usable in presentation mode?

I'm wondering if there are any instructions for this specific pen? I'd like to be able to program the 2 side buttons and learn about presentation mode (if that's an option with this model).

Thank you!

Other person was asking about the new pen that DOES NOT have a button on the top or a pocket clip, only the two side buttons.  That is mine as well - came with a Spetre x360-15 and I cannot get bluetooth to recognize it!!!!!!!!!!  All internet info seems to be for the older pen.  How do I activate pairing with this new pen?

I am having the same issue. I cannot get the bluetooth to recognize the new RECHARGABLE tilt pent. The manual that was posted was for the old pen with the click top. I have the MPP2.0 Tilt Pen Model # HSA-W001P; Component PN: L85656-001.

There is no top click button and only the 2 side click buttons but I can't seem to customize it. When I open the Pen & Window Ink screen, it just gives me the pen shortcuts for the top click pen. How do I get my tilt pen to pair to the laptop?

Don't know yet.  After Best Buy gave up, I went to online HP help.  They decided it was a bad pen and are sending a replacement.  But their supply chain issues means it's two months before I get it (end of October).

Footnote: I don't think the pen is bad and actually I got it to work I think without bluetooth connection.  Pen writing and Pressure work.  Have not tried to understand tilt yet so not sure about that.  Best Buy tried another of the same pen and had the same problem.

HP doesn't have a good handle on the new pen - all their documentation and discussion are for the earlier pen.  Best of luck.

Thank you for the reply. I guess I'll try to go through HP directly and see if there's a solution. I did find a product sheet for the UK with the same exact pen pictured but provided no solution. Sigh
