Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-s0000 (76T53AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,
I am experiencing a pre-boot display initialization issue on my HP Victus 7z586EA laptop. AMD 780m igpu + RTX4060m dgpu

BIOS version: F32

Problem description:

In Hybrid graphics mode, the laptop powers on, LCD screen backlight turns on, but no VICTUS logo appears.

Windows still loads (audio works), but display remains black until I put the device into sleep mode or at startup use F9/F10 for BIOS screen after which the image returns.

In Discrete GPU mode, the system works normally without any display issue.

This suggests a BIOS-level or firmware-level issue related to AMD iGPU (780M) initialization or eDP display handshake during boot.

I have already tested:

Clean Windows installation

GPU driver reinstall

Fast Startup disabled

Discrete mode test (works normally)

The issue only occurs in Hybrid mode during pre-boot stage.

Could you please confirm if there is a BIOS update or known firmware fix for AMD iGPU initialization in this model?

Hi @dnmxşlsm

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

There is currently no official BIOS update specifically documented to resolve AMD 780M iGPU pre‑boot initialization issues on the HP Victus 7z586EA. The latest available BIOS for your model is version F32, and HP recommends verifying updates only through the official HP Support site. HP Support

Recommended HP Steps

Check for BIOS Updates via HP App

  • Open the HP App on your laptop.
  • Navigate to Diagnose & Fix → Updates.
  • Ensure all pending BIOS, chipset, and graphics updates are installed.
  • Restart the system after updates.

Manual BIOS Verification

  • Visit the official HP Drivers & Software page: HP Support Drivers HP Support
  • Enter your product ID (Victus 7z586EA).
  • Confirm if a newer BIOS version than F32 is listed. If available, download and install following HP’s instructions.

Hybrid Mode Initialization Check

  • In BIOS Setup (F10), confirm Hybrid Graphics is enabled.
  • Verify Secure Boot remains enabled.
  • If available, check for Restore Factory Keys under BIOS Security.

Display Handshake Reset

  • Perform a power reset:
    • Shut down the laptop.
    • Disconnect AC adapter.
    • Hold the power button for 15 seconds.
    • Reconnect and power on.
  • This clears residual states that may affect eDP initialization.

Note:

  • Hybrid Mode Issue: Your description points to an AMD iGPU initialization delay during pre‑boot, which prevents the VICTUS logo from appearing until a secondary trigger (sleep or BIOS hotkey).
  • Discrete Mode Normal: Confirms the RTX 4060m path initializes correctly, isolating the issue to the AMD 780M + eDP handshake.
  • Firmware Dependency: Such initialization problems are typically addressed in future BIOS releases. Until then, keeping BIOS and drivers updated via HP App is the best practice.

Please check the HP Support Drivers page for your Victus 7z586EA and confirm if a newer BIOS version beyond F32 is available. If none is listed, continue using Discrete mode for stability until HP releases an update.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
