Hi @shruti_16,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If the Caps Lock light on your HP PC is not turning on, here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:

1. Check if Caps Lock is Functioning

  • Open a text editor (like Notepad).
  • Press the Caps Lock key and type.
  • If the letters are uppercase, the key is working — the issue is just the indicator light.

2. Restart Your PC

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can reset the keyboard driver and fix the indicator light.

3. Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers

  • Press Windows + X > Device Manager.
  • Expand Keyboards.
  • Right-click your keyboard > Update driver.
  • If that doesn’t help, right-click again > Uninstall device, then restart your PC.

4. Check HP BIOS Settings

  • Restart your PC and press Esc or F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  • Look for Caps Lock LED behavior or Action Keys Mode.
  • Make sure the LED indicator is not disabled (if such an option exists).

5. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Turn off your PC.
  • Turn it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the Keyboard Test to check for hardware issues.

6. Try an External Keyboard

  • Plug in a USB keyboard and test the Caps Lock key.
  • If the external keyboard light works, the issue may be with your laptop’s built-in keyboard.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
