I hope someone brings a lawsuit against HP!

I don't think there's anything that can be done. It's technically their discretion what they consider viable damage for warranty replacement. It's unjust but it's just fact.

Also, to wwipswich, don't be surprised if they refuse to fix it and they send it back, that it comes back more cracked than when you sent it. That's what happened to me.

Dear Omar,

Kindly, let me know, is the touch screen for hp spectre x360 G1 is replacable ?

It is, but to find one second hand in a good working condition is difficult.

Easy to install by the way, remove the cover behind the laptop, open up and remove heat pipe to access hinge screws.

Wifi cable are just clipped.

then just flip lock to release display ribbon...

I was using my laptop as usual today and noticed the that my cursor was moving around randomly. At first I thought it was a software issue , but then i noticed a tiny crack at the bottom left corner of the screen. I have not abused my laptop, it's never been dropped . I browsed through the forums, apparently it's not unusual for the screen to rack spontaneously. Had a chat with HP customer service, and they are charging $ 431 to replace it !
Is this a fair price ? Given the amount of complaints on this "premium" laptop, I wonder if it's a manufacturing defect ? Should I pay them for repairs ? Try a local laptop repair service or geek squad ?
I am very disappointed that such a expensive laptop cracked in less than 6 months .

Sorry to hear this - but not surprised - mine was only 2 1/2 months. My experience is above and the update is that after a lot of back and forth I got the case manager to honor almost the original worse case scenario  he had quoted (gave me $167 even though he had quoted $159?)  before i sent it off for evaluation.  Make sure you get a case manager as they then offer a "discount" of 40-50% off the repair, which was somewhere in the $440 ballpark of what you are saying.  Very, very frustrating and they have you.  Can't wait to see if this happens again!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a very similar situation as you trent2.  I had my laptop on my bedside stand and woke up in the morning with it still on the stand, but when I openned it up, my screen was cracked in the top left corner and since then, the cracks have been growing and getting worse and have now been crossing over the display.  I have been taking very good care of this laptop as I am now a college student and spent a lot of money on this laptop and am very disappointed that it has this faulty screen that i can do nothing about.  I have never dropped it or bumped it into anything adn when I contacted HP, they had said that it would be $300 to repair and that warranty doesn't cover "accidental damage".  This has obviously been a problem with this type of computer and I did not do anything to cause this crack in the screen.  I can't afford to put another $300 into this computer so it makes me disappointed that HP isn't willing to help out with this matter and fix this faulty screen.  This is a great computer, but nonetheless, very disappointed that I will have to deal with this crack throughout the rest of college until I can afford to fix it.

Add me to the list of hundreds of other that have: a) a cracked screen likely due to poor engineering or faulty material and b) someone that will never purchase an HP laptop/convertable again.

I have a similar issue.

I open the laptop and the screen is cracked.  Laptop always well protected and taken care of.

Moreover, HP US won't repair a laptop purchased in Canada.  I thought that HP is a global company.

Now I have to wait 3 months to go back and repair it.

This is ridiculous.
