I had my screen crack in April and after brought up the issue with HP in June. HP originally did not want to take blame for the issue but i peresisted and had the case escalated. To their credit, HP asked me to send the computer away for repair and it was completed within a week.
Unfortunately the repaires HP contract out to are absolutely useless and have no idea about quality control, they hadn't fitted the screen on properly and said it was a faulty screen HP had sent out.
Long story short, i have recieved the computer back looking good as new.
I can say that the new screen has a cross hatch design running through the glass .I think they have realised there is an issue and have taken it upon themselves to modify the material to withstand normal use, as it should have already.
Good luck everyone.

@evolvic wrote:I have a similar issue.
I open the laptop and the screen is cracked. Laptop always well protected and taken care of.
Moreover, HP US won't repair a laptop purchased in Canada. I thought that HP is a global company.
Now I have to wait 3 months to go back and repair it.
This is ridiculous.
just for your info, i bought mine in France, motherboard fried, not charging anymore and i was in Romania, they took it in warranty without any complain about beeing in this country.

It is comforting to read that there are others with similar experiences, but also upsetting that HP is cranking out these laptops when there are so many who have been affected by faulty design. Just this morning I opened my less-than-a-year old HP Spectre x360 only to find a hairline crack on the middle-to-bottom right side. Normal use, no drops. The most "stress" it has endured is me writing notes using the HP Active Stylus (which it was intended for!) I talked to customer support, who quoted me $399 USD to send it in to repair "accidental damage". There was no accident here! Escalated to supervisor, who stayed adamant about service fee. Sigh. I'm so disappointed right now.

The more I read about this the angrier I get! [content removed]
Please insist with your case manager on receiving the 40-50% discount on the repair quote that you have read about others getting with this same problem, and everyone continue to ask them what they are doing about the large percentage of customers affected and posting on their own HP forum.
As for me, mine is back but I am terrified to move it around now and will never take it out of the house. What kind of laptop is that??? I was told that if it happened again, there would be no further savings discount offered. As a reminder, mine was only 2 1/2 months old! So sad because I think this is a terrific machine and I do love it.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details). I've just come across the same issue. My crack starts at the bottom right where the hinge is and moves diagonally up about 6-7 centimeters - it is a complete headache, I do all my work on this thing and will have to do without it while I try get it fixed.
I was using in the morning and closed the lid over and about 15 minutes later came back and noticed that my screen was having these random ghost touches which was unworkable, looking closer at the screen I noticed that crack so I've now disabled the touch screen via Device Manager.
This isn't the only issue with this laptop too, there are two major issues that has existed since the day I bought it:
1) Coil while - Every time I use the laptop, you will hear a constant electrical whining noise which seems to come from the motherboard - there's a big discussion on the issue here http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Spectre-x360-Noise/td-p/5107394
2) Fan noise & Heat - The fan on this laptop kicks in even when I'm doing very easy tasks like browsing the web with a handful of tabs open. Even though the fan is on all the time it still does nothing for the heat, if I wore shorts and place this laptop on my lap it's unbearably hot - luckily for me I use the laptop on a desk 90% of the time. Found a long thread on this issue too http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Spectre-x360-annoying-fan-no...
I'm nervous about moving my laptop anywhere now in fear that the crack will spread.
Here are a couple of shots of the crack.
(Had to use flash to show the crack on the black bezel)
