I have researched multiple websites and cannot confirm if my HP Laptop can support multiple external monitors using a docking station. Currently my laptop only has 1 HDMI port to plug into 1 external monitor. So I have a docking station also plugged into the laptop which goes to a 2nd external monitor. However, that 2nd external monitor is not detected. How do I get it detected or how do I confirm I cannot use 2 monitors?

Hi @melv2012
The laptop's USB-C port is not compatible with DisplayPort, which is why you cannot use a second monitor. You can only do so if you purchase a dock with DisplayLink technology, which uses software and hardware to transmit images through the USB ports. Here is a link where you can find out more about these docks.
DisplayLink Products list | Synaptics
| External I/O Ports | 1 USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate (supports data transfer only and does not support charging or external monitors); 2 USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate; 1 AC smart pin; 1 HDMI 1.4b; 1 headphone/microphone combo |
