Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

Hey there HP Community my hp laptop 14-fq0xxx is not booting up when having my external hard drive in but turns on when unplugging it. But if you plug in when it turns on it goes back to the problem (black screen/ unresponsive screen). Need a little assistance with this issue. I was thinking about getting a new hard drive but the one im using is fairly new not old or damaged.
