my external monitor always worked with the usbc minidoc then it all of a sudden just stopped working. It may be due to the most recent bios update but i re-flashed the update and still no go. Any ideas?

I have a HP Spectre x360 convertible 13-ae0xx and just purchased a HP E233 FHD IPS monitor and the cable I am using via the USB port on the notebook doesnt work (there is no HDMI port). I am able to easily connect my Dell laptop via the HDMI port so I know there is nothing wrong with the monitor.  Please help!
