HP PAVILLION GAMING EC 0100AX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

i HAVE PURCHASED HP PAVILLION GAMING EC 0100AX with 16 GB RAM but its performance on battery seems to be very poor and I can't even think of playing games with it. On the other hand if I connect it to the charger and try to play games everything becomes smooth. I can't understand why ? I am doinf something wrong ? any settings that need to be configured ?

Also the disk utilization is around 100% all the time. It has 1 TB of space with around 850 GB free storage currently.

@JATIN24 There will be a minor difference in performance when on battery, compared to when using a laptop on adapter, that said, you can always change how the laptop works using the power options:

  1. In Windows, search for and open Control Panel.

  2. Search for power, and then click Power Options.

Opening the Power Options in Windows

  3. Select an option under Choose or customize a power plan.

    Selecting a power plan

  4. To customize the selected plan, click Change plan settings, and then select the display and sleep settings when using the battery and when plugged in.

    NOTE:

To set up a personalized plan, click Create a power plan from list on the left side of the main Power Options window, and then follow the on-screen instructions. The plan displays in the list of available power plans.

  5. To change more power settings, click Change advanced power settings.

Change advanced power settings for more options

  6. Click the plus sign next to the component or function, change the available settings, click Apply, and then click OK.

    Changing the Advanced settings

  7. Click Save changes.

Hi Riddle_decipher you mentioned there will be a minor difference in performance when on battery, compared to when using a laptop on adapter, very correct but that doesn't fit in my case. I am an IT guy I know about things. In my case the difference in performance is huge to a point where it becomes difficult to use laptop without adapter.

2nd point - turning of hard disk ?? would need more info on that

HI Riddle I am seriously fed up with my purchase nothing seems to work as it was shown in the advertisements. On the HP website this laptop is shown as the best seller. I don't why in my case there are multiple errors. If you assign my case to a HP agent it would be a great help.

now see this AMD settings has an update that is recommended and when I click update it throws an error

@JATIN24 It's always a pleasure interacting with the IT guy 🙂 that said, when (the turn off hard disk) option is enabled, your HDD will be turned off after your PC being idle during the configured period of time. The hard drive engine will be stopped and its disks will not spin. Next time your software access the drive, it will take a few seconds before the drive start spinning and give access to files.

It's a special option in Windows 10 allows the user to turn off hard drives automatically after a specified period of inactivity. This feature is helpful for those who need to save energy, i.e. if you have a laptop with an HDD.

Also, HP recommends using either the HP Support Assistant or the HP website to download updates on all HP devices,

If you continue to have error with the AMD app, please consider reinstalling it and switch to the HPSA for updates.

Also, I am an HP agent, so I'm not sure what you meant by assign to an HP agent, I'll need some clarity on that,

Let me know if you need anything else.

"This feature is helpful for those who need to save energy" I am sorry but this is not a solution, I need performance when I am using the device.  By contacting HP agent I mean if you could raise a ticket for me and get someone to resolve my cases.

I contacted HP support my case number is - 5053654904. This guy on call told me to update windows then removed AMD and NVIDIA drivers then got them re-installed with a restart. After this told me install all the drivers from HP Support assistant (not sure why because they were for sound, LAN, Bluetooth). Then he assured me he give me a call back in the evening to see if the performance has improved, and as expected I never received any call back.

Please understand the problem I measured the FPS for my game

without adapter - it goes down to 6 from 60 FPS every 15-20 seconds

with adapter - constant average 60 FPS

Now tell a gaming laptop with heavy graphics would ever give 6 FPS ?

that too for game like GTA 4 thats a 2008 game !

I have invested all my hard earned money on this. REALLY PISSED OFF..........

I  purchased GTA 5 to test things out SAME observation without adapter experienced lags with adapter 60 FPS constant. What do you think the possible root cause could be ?
