Good morning Paul;
Hate to bother you again.
Last night I turned the laptop off, and on today. When the desktop picture was on I moved the mouse. Opened browser. The screen turned completely grey. Then, it seemed briefly okay. The laptop responds to keyboard. I am able to enter text in the box. However, the screen turns grey as soon as I touch touchpad or move the usb mouse.
Do you think it is going to work if I download Windows 10 from microsoft's web site on a usb thumb drive and roll it back that way? if I am not mistaken i can not go back to 10 from 11 after 11 days of switching. (Another words I have to use a usb thumb drive).
Meanwhile, I will try to follow your latest instructions if I can use the mouse or touchpad.
When I move the mouse the screen flicks (grey). And, it is back to normal. Until I move the mouse again.
Thanks.

Good morning:
Things are going from bad to worse I see.
If the 'go back to W10' option is gone, then yes, you can use the media creation tool to clean install W10.
Make sure you back up any files you need to save onto a portable hard drive/USB flash drive before proceeding to reinstall W10.
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
You may also want to consider this option...
You can use the HP cloud recovery tool with another PC running W7 64 bit or newer and a 32 GB USB flash drive to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility.

Since you probably will have to install the recovery tool on another PC, after you launch it, you will need to enter your PC's product number in the tool's search window to proceed.
Your PC's product number is: 1G131UA#ABA

How do I find 'go back to W10' option?
Edit: I have found it. It is greyed out. I won't be able to. So, creation tool will let me downgrade from 11 to 10?
Am I required to enter any OEM license number? I don't think 'system' will give me that.

I downloaded and installed HP driver you suggested. i checked under device manager. It's date and version changed from the original. now, date: 9/5/2020 version: 27.20.100.8681.
how do I exactly use the zip file you sent? sorry, I am not experienced with zipped files. I launch it. Then what?
Thanks Paul.
Edit: I extracted file(s) in the same zip older. (wushowhide.diagcab) double clicked it. It did the scan it shows me 3 updates under 'hide updates' :
1- 2022-08 security update for W 11 22H2 (KB5012170)
2- Intel corp. extension 25.20.100.7007
3- HP inc. software component 1.50.3269.0
All have boxes. Which ones should have tick marks?
Assuming only the second box (intel corp.........).

Meanwhile, I am downloading Media creation tool for W 10 on usb drive in case I need to use it. what a mess. have been using Windows based hp laptops since 1990. Never had any issue with Windows updates to a newer version!

You don't need to hide any of those updates because none of those had installed.
If you want to check to hide the graphics driver update, then you would check the second one.
Intel corp. extension 25.20.100.7007

Hi Paul;
Before reading your last thread I went ahead and checked the second box . The other two were not selected. After the scan, it showed it was fixed. then, I restarted the machine as suggested by HD Drive's site. No flicking issues. I put the laptop in hibernate mode. waited few minutes. Pushed the power button and turned the pc on. After the desktop picture came on, I moved the mouse. No problems!! I am going to try few more times, both hibernate and sleep modes to see what happens. If everything is okay, will future Windows or Intel updates leave this graphics driver alone?
thanks Paul.
No need for media creation tool for now. But, I will keep it just in case. That was created just for this pc. Right? Since I have couple more pcs, I cannot use it for other machines.
I am assuming HP's Windows license number was somehow saved on that usb drive.

Hi:
That sounds encouraging.
The Windows product key is encrypted in your notebook's BIOS.
You don't need the product key to reinstall W10 or W11.
As to future Windows updates....it is possible that Intel may push an updated driver for W11 in the future that is newer than the one that W11 installed and in which case, it may cause problems and it may not.
If it does, you revert to the HP W10 driver I gave you, restart the PC and run the hide Windows updates utility again.
I have a HP Stream Pro 11 G4 notebook that I had manually updated the Intel driver on, and for a couple of years I always let the Intel DSA update the graphics driver to the latest version.
After I installed one update, when the display went to sleep (not even the notebook itself--just the display), when I pressed a key or whatever to wake up the display, it would not wake. I was stuck with a black screen and had to press the power button to shut down the PC.
Restarting it fixed the problem, but I could not let the display sleep.
So, I had to revert back to the latest HP driver that worked without a problem.
Then I installed W11 on the notebook and Windows update installed a W11 driver for the display and it has worked fine ever since with the newest driver that Windows update downloaded.
So, it is possible that a future update may not wreck your notebook's graphics, but you now have the solution if it does.
