No error messages, just this message "HP Audio Switch" in the upper left corner of the screen. Clicking on it does nothing. When it shows up, I can't get rid of it. What is causing this?

Thanks for the help. I located a similarly named item in "startup", it was "HPAudioSwitchLC.vbs" and disabled it. So far there hasn't been another occurrence. But it didn't happen every time I booted up, so I'll wait a bit before claiming complete success.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Let's start off by disabling switch using task manager.

  • Right-click on an empty area on the Taskbar and select Task Manager.
  • When Task Manager comes up, click the Startup tab and look through the list of programs and find HP Audio Switch Box and right click on it and select disable.
  • Restart the computer and check whether the issue is resolved. If the issue persists continue next step

Uninstalling the HP Audio switch from Control panel - open control panel>>programs>> uninstall a program.

It will give a list of programs available. Please check if you can see HP Audio Switch and is yes then uninstall it.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
