I would like to upgrade my network adapter which is a Realtec RTL8188EE 802.11 bgn, I cannot configure the adapter for 5G

I tried a Net-DYN usb adapter but the lag or stall just keep getting worse. Any help would be greatly appreciated, please dont say a  new laptop.

You're very welcome.

The product number you posted indicates that your notebook is a HP Pavilion 17-f053us Notebook PC.

The specs are below.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04316292

Unfortunately, there are no internal dual band wifi cards you can upgrade to that will work properly with the one wifi antenna your notebook comes with.

You would have to purchase an external dual band wifi adapter for best results.

If you want to experiment with a dual band card, you can connect the one antenna cable your notebook has to this model's main antenna terminal.

The signal may be weak, and the Bluetooth will probably not work.

Broadcom BCM943228HMB 802.11abgn 2×2 Wi-Fi Adapter, Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter
HP part # 730668-001

You can find one in used but tested and working condition on eBay.

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

Looks like they go for around $10.00.  For $10, it might be worth the gamble.

Hi:

The RTL8188EE 802.11 bgn is a single band (2.4 GHz only), non bluetooth wifi adapter.

It does not work on the 5.0 GHz wifi band.

If you want to replace the internal wifi adapter with a dual band card (may not be possible), I will need to know the full model number or product number of your notebook.

Use this guide to find that information...please do not post the serial number...

Dennis11254l: Hello,  yes I am interested in replacing the adapter, I also should learn to read more. I took apart the battery compartment to look for the info you requested, when I could have gotten it through the system info. Well this is what I got : Product ID

00326-10000-00000-AA972  if I can change to a 5G adapter that would solve my problems.

Thanks for the help,

You're very welcome.

That's not the model of your notebook.

The product number will look something like this...5ES85EA#ABA

Do you have the HP support assistant installed on your PC?

That will also provide the model number and product number.

If not, you can download it from the link below.
