Message on printer "There is an issue with either the installed cartridges or your account payment method" has displayed on my printer for a few weeks.  I have been working with tech support to find the issues.  I was working with someone yesterday (CRM:0105352002972) and she attempted to "reinstall" the printer.  During that session she was not able to connect to the Wi-Fi connection.  She asked if we had a USB cable.  While trying to locate one, she disconnected and said I would need to reach back out.  I purchased one and have it connected to my computer and laptop now.  I need help getting my printer working again.

Hi @JackieC_TK

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

The error message you’re seeing “There is an issue with either the installed cartridges or your account payment method” — typically indicates that the printer is unable to validate Instant Ink subscription details or cartridge authentication. Since you’ve already worked with support and attempted a reinstall, I would request you to please share me the Case ID shared along with the Email Id registered with Instant Ink via private message.

Meanwhile I would request you to follow the below steps.

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the cartridges are correctly installed. Remove them and reseat them, making sure they click into place.

Verify Cartridge Authenticity:

  • Since you mentioned using original cartridges, check the packaging and labels for authenticity. Sometimes, counterfeit cartridges can cause errors.

Check Expiration Dates:

  • Make sure that the cartridges are not expired. Even new cartridges can occasionally be out of date.

Inspect for Damage:

  • Look for any visible damage to the cartridges or the printer contacts where the cartridges connect.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then plug it back in and turn it on.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
