I have a 2000-2c22DX laptop that I recently refurbished, and I simply cannot make the Bluetooth work. It doesn't even search for devices in the area. I have tried multiple fixes from the Linux community forums with no results.

My question is, does this laptop even have bluetooth compatibility? I purchased it in 2013 and I'm not sure if my chip even does bluetooth. Any information is appreciated!

The information you provided is sufficient.

The RT5390 is a single band, non-Bluetooth Wi-Fi adapter, so the specs are right, and the parts list is incorrect.

Your notebook is not supported for Bluetooth.

Hi:

Below is the link to the product specs for your notebook.

HP 2000-2c22DX Notebook PC Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

According to the spevs, it does not come with built in Bluetooth networking or that feature would have been listed along with the 1x1 802.11b/g/n WLAN wireless connectivity specification.

But this is where it gets interesting...

The parts list for your notebook indicates that it comes with a Ralink RT3290LE 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 combination adapter.

So, the question is...what model Wi-Fi adapter does your notebook actually have?

Under the battery on the specs tag, it says "Contains Ralink Radio Model RT5390"

in the terminal screen it says "Network controller: Ralink Corp. RT5390R 802.11bgn PCIe Wireless network adapter".

Is that helpful? I have a photo of the specs on the back that I can post with some other long number strings if necessary. (FCC-ID, IC, SCT, etc.)
